L’Opéra ou la défaite des femmes is an opera based on a French novel written by the Philosopher Catherine Clément in 1979. It is the story of a young girl fantasizing the perfect love but when she meets the man, her image of love is shattered and she is disappointed. Thus she relinquishes love.
The world of opera is very masculine in nature and often projects women as weak, scorned, betrayed and ready to die characters. But in this story not only is she portrayed as the central figure but as someone who triumphs as a “diva”.
The opera comprises of some of the most famous arias: La Traviata, Lucia di Lammermoor, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Roméo et Juliette, Manon and will be presented by the artist Aude Priya.
Aude Priya is a Franco Indian soprano. She studied opera in the Conservatoire National de Toulouse and is touring all over world to give performances.
