A PANORAMA OF INDIAN CONTEMPORARY DANCE

Presented by Kri Foundation.Set up in 2003, Kri Foundation is a not for profit Trust that works in the three verticals of Arts, Social Development and the deepening of Knowledge. In the domain of the Arts it has created several key niche equities, one of which is Danzlenz, India’s only Festival of Dance and the camera.

SHARIRA

An iconic film on dance visionary, dancer and choreographer Chandraleka, which allows a glimpse into her mind.

BAANS DANCE

Duration: 5 min

Dance: Anusha Lall and Mandeep Raikhy

Movie: directed by Asim Warif

Made in 2008, this black and white short film shows an original dance improvisation with bamboo sticks.

BAHUDHA

Duration: 10 min

Choreography: Debashree Bhattacharya and Vikram Iyengor

Movie: directed by Ranjan Palit

Sound, light, rhythm and movement all come together in this audio-visual celebration of dance, focusing on the multiplicity of Kathak, its detailed precision in every minute movement as well as the overall beauty of its form. This film was nominated at the Dance for the Camera Festival at Lincoln Centre.
