To celebrate 10 years of Design X Design Alliance Française de Delhi & iF presents 10th Annual Exhibition 2020.
Design in its many manifestations forms an integral part of every culture. Civilizations evolve and attain their full potential because of it. Design based creative communities in India are witness to a fascinating churning, necessitating a search for a vision that may inform their evolution beyond – spanning education, profession and the industry. Thus, involving exposes, roundtables, exhibitions etc. Design X Design is a step in that direction.
The energy behind the design of a pin or a city being the same, this joint initiative of Alliance Francaise de Delhi and Studio IF is also geared towards raising levels of appreciation within and nurturing connections across various creative communities– architecture, urban/ landscape/ interior design, product/ industrial design, textile/ fashion design, graphic/ communication design etc. Local and global in outlook, it is directed at the initiated and the uninitiated alike.
About DXD@10: Book Launch
Marking an important milestone moment in the evolution of Design X Design, the Book Launch will involve a soft release of the book titled DXD@10. This commemorative volume celebrates 10 years of Design X Design archiving its multifarious activities including linking Exposes’/Domain Exposes’/Tete-a-Tete/Charrette, Anual Roundtables/20under35 Exhibitions, etc serving as a Design Directory while simultaneously offering an insight into the status of Design-based Creative Communities in India over the last ten years. Coupled with written contributions made by invited Domain Experts, the book provides a rare domain-specific critique – combining both the habitat and non-habitat based expressions of Design.
About Design X Design Exhibition: 20under35
The exhibition component of Design X Design involves showcasing the work of designers from Delhi and other cities of India, to facilitate the reading of prevailing trends across various design based creative industries. Never easy to comprehend, the design story of a culture at any given moment is perhaps best understood by looking at young design practices. Therefore, Design X Design Exhibition: 20under35 by sharing the philosophies, working methods and future aspirations of the twenty shortlisted designers under the age of thirty five aims to raise levels of appreciation, foster cross connections and inform the journeys ahead.
About the Closing Walk
The Closing Walk is a part of the Design x Design 20under35 tradition. It involves a guided tour through the Gallery by the participating designers, prior to the closing of the show. During the Walk, the Designers, one by one, summarize the nature of their respective practices and the articulation of the same through their exhibits/ installations.
