‘Designxdesign is a non profit non commercial platform initiated by Studio IF and supported by Alliance Francaise, Delhi.
Hosting the designxdesign exhibitions, exposes and roundtable events, the initiative completes eight years years this year. Over the years, it has showcased and discussed the work of practices such as Turmeric Design, Ishaan Khosla Design, HEUMN, Anagram Architects, Mayank Mansingh Kaul, (to name a few) who have grown to become leading names in the industry.
The designxdesign 20under35 exhibition opens on January 24th at the Alliance Francaise in Delhi. Showcasing work of emerging architects, industrial designers, graphic designers and apparel designers from the city, this exhibition has been landmark event for the city’s design community to shape where design practice is headed in Delhi in general.’
About Design X Design
Design in its many manifestations forms an integral part of every culture. Civilizations evolve and attain their full potential because of it. Design based creative communities in India are witness to a fascinating churning, necessitating a search for a vision that may inform their evolution beyond – spanning education, profession and the industry. Thus, involving exposes, roundtables, exhibitions etc… Design X Design is a step in that direction.
The energy behind the design of a pin or a city being the same, this joint initiative of Alliance Francaise de Delhi and Studio IF is also geared towards raising levels of appreciation within and nurturing connections across various creative industries – architecture, urban/ landscape/ interior design, product/ industrial design, textile/ fashion design, graphic/ communication design etc.. Local and global in outlook, it is directed at the initiated and the uninitiated alike.

The Exhibition component of Design X Design involves showcasing the work of Designers from all over the country, once a year to facilitate a reading of the emerging trends across various design based creative communities in the country.
Is Indian design recognizable? Is there a vision guiding it? Can tradition and modernity, continuity and change co-exist in it? Is it culturally relevant? Questions such as these are more alive today than ever before. One sure way of gaining an insight into this and more is by looking at the work of young upcoming designers. ‘Design X Design Exhibition: 20under35’ attempts to do just that by sharing the design philosophies, working methods and future aspirations of the twenty shortlisted design practices under the age of thirty-five. While the exhibition reveals the flavour of each design discipline independently it also serves as a reminder that in order to take the next leap forward a composite and broader view of matters concerning design will have to be taken. There is need to create more incentives, like this exhibition, on one hand and match it with appropriate checks and balances on the other hand to achieve overall excellence. Most important, there is a need to communicate with the society at large about the role of designers – as makers of cultures and indeed civilizations.

Inauguration: Thursday, January 24th,2018, 7 pm ( exhibition on till February 13th, 2018)
Gallery timings: 12 pm to 8 pm every day
Closing Walk
The ‘Closing Walk’ is scheduled to take place between 6 & 8 PM on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 at the Gallerie Romain Rolland, and will involve a guided walk through the Exhibits by the participating designers, prior to the closing of the show.
