Aly Ndiaye, aka Webster, was born and raised in Quebec’s Limoilou neighborhood. From a Senegalese father and a Quebec mother, he has always been proud of his origins and presents himself as a SénéQueb Métis pure wool. His passion for history led him to pursue a university degree in this field.

An activist, Webster is very socially involved; he lectures on a multitude of topics including the cultural diversity, perseverance and social impact of hip-hop among youth. His favorite theme is the history of the black presence in Quebec and Canada since the beginning of the 17th century. To better disseminate this information, he set up the Qc History X, a guided tour of Quebec City about this little-known story.

Since 2009, he travels the world to present writing workshops where he learns the creative use of French through rap. He has visited several American universities including Harvard, M.I.T., Howard, Georgetown and UCLA. He has also given concerts and writing workshops in several countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and South America.

On the musical side, Webster has been active since 1995; Founding member of the Limoilou Starz collective, he is a veteran and one of the pioneers of the Quebec hip-hop movement. The Old Man of the Mountain is known for the quality of his texts and the intelligence of his words. His art is a tool he has refined for more than two decades to convey in a most creative way his cultural and intellectual baggage.
