About Mr. Jean-Claude Perrier

Born in 1957, Mr. Jean-Claude Perrier has devoted many of his books to India and the Indo-French literary connection. As a literary critic and journalist, he is writing extensively for the literary press He is considered as one of the most important French travelogue writers.

After having been the literary director of the first edition of Bonjour India in 2009, Mr. Perrier has been invited on the occasion of the Kolkata International Book Fair (February 2018), with France as the guest of honor, along with ten other French writers and publishers.

His last book, published in 2017, is reflecting the deep admiration Mr. Perrier is nourishing for André Gide as well as a playful literary mindset, while writing on the behalf of the 1947 Nobel awarded French novelist the Indian sequel of his masterpiece, entitling it Indian Paludes.

About Dr. Balveer Aroora

Professor Balveer Arora is the Chairman and Founder of the Centre for Multilevel Federalism at the Institute of Social Sciences, a federalism think tank based in New Delhi. The Centre is a member of the International Association of Centres for Federal Studies (IACFS). He was earlier professor of Political Science at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. He was Rector and Pro- Vice Chancellor of the University 2003-2005, responsible for Academic Affairs. He is currently President of the Board of Water for People India.

Professor Arora obtained his Doctorate in Political Science from the University of Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne, after studying at St Stephen’s College Delhi and at Sciences Po Paris. He has been visiting professor at Sciences Po Paris, as well as at universities in Japan (Waseda), China (CNU) and the US (U Penn). He is a former president of the Alliance Française de Delhi and Founder-President of the

Association of SciencesPo Alumni in India. He was for nine years a member of the Board of the global NGO Plan International India. He has written extensively on India’s federal democracy, its political institutions and processes over the past decades.

He has been a member of the Scientific Councils of the French Network of Institutes of Advanced Studies (RFIEA) and the House of Human Sciences (FMSH), Paris. He is currently Vice-President of the Institut International Transcultura (Paris) of which Umberto Eco was the moving spirit. He is on the Scientific Advisory Council of the Journal ‘Communications’ (Paris) and has delivered lectures in several prominent French universities.

He was made a Knight in the Legion of Honour, the highest civilian honour of the French Republic, in July 2011. Earlier, he had been received as Officer in the Order of Academic Laurels (2003).
