In the days of “globalisation” and in this time of crisis, the paintings represent the happiness of the present, and… of fragmentation, of being aged , condemned and destruction… of the future. This aspect of the work makes them current and topical.
A graduate in fine arts and crafts from Dhaka University, Bangladesh, Shohela Chevrot have mastered in Sculpture from Rabindra Bharati University, Visual Arts, Kolkata, India and was granted ICCR Scholarship for this by the Indian Government. She also work on canvas and other medias. Along with working on personal creations, she also teaches art.
From childhood, inspired by nature’s beauty and its colours; its perennial changes and the influences it has on human life have been a source of inspiration for Shohela’s work. And all that is conveyed through a technique called “cracked”. This technique was created by me and presented to the art world in 1997.One of the artists works in this technique is displayed in Bangladesh National Museum. Shohela uses bright oil based colours and mix media in her work.
