The Generation Equality Forum promotes gender equality; it is convened by UN Women and co-hosted by the governments of Mexico and France. The Forum opened in Mexico City on the 29th of March and will culminate in Paris from 30 June to 2 July 2021, launching a series of concrete, ambitious and transformative actions to achieve immediate and irreversible progress towards gender equality. For this forum, The Alliance Française de Delhi is organising its next InDebate session on Equality and Education on the 28th May at 5.30 pm (IST) via a zoom webinar.

The panel for this session will consist of: –

1.Mrs. Amita Mishra: – (Former Principal of Delhi Public School International, Saket)

Former principal of Delhi Public School International, Saket. Over her 30 years of experience, she has been Vice-Principal, DPS R.K.P, H.M. DPS East of Kailash, Ideator- CBSE, Supervisor – ISC Board, Examiner for CBSE Board. As a core-resource person of the DPS Society, she has trained over 5000 teachers.

2.Dr. Mujibur Rehman:- (Political Scientist, Jamia Milia Islamia)

A political scientist by training and pursues interdisciplinary research. He works at the interface of identity politics and development politics.  His latest book is Rise of Saffron Power: Reflections on Indian Politics (Routledge 2018). The new edition of his volume Communalism in postcolonial India:  Changing Contours was republished in  2018 with a foreword by Romila Thapar and afterward by Dipesh Chakrabarty. He is currently working on two book projects simultaneously: one on Indian Muslims and the other on the Politics of Anti- Christian Violence in India.

3.Prof. Nicolas Gravel: –(Director, Center for Human Sciences)

Prof. Nicolas Gravel obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and economics at the University of Montreal in 1986 and a Ph. D. in economics at the University of British Columbia in 1993. He became a professor of economics first at the University of Montpellier III and then at Aix-Marseille University (after October 2002). Nicolas Gravel’s main field of expertise is public economics, broadly defined as the branch of economics that examines the causes and the consequences of public intervention in the economic sphere. His recent research themes include the measurement of inequalities, poverty, and social mobility, the analysis of processes of human group formation, tax competition, contribution to the public good, and decisions under uncertainty.

4.Prof. Nicolas Sieger:- (Principal, International French School of Delhi)

Originally from La Rochelle and educated at the University of Poitiers, Mr. Sieger started his career as a history/geography teacher before taking charge of several institutions, including Vauban College in Briançon. After having worked at more than 17 institutions in mainland France and Mayotte, he was appointed to the Lycée Français International in Delhi in /September 2017.

Moderator: Dr. Ameeta Mulla Wattal (Global Educationist, Principal, Springdales School)

Currently, Dr. Wattal is working as the Principal of Springdales School Pusa Road and Kirti Nagar, New Delhi, and also the Manager at Springdales School, Jaipur. She has been the chairperson of Global Inclusive Education Network (GIEN) National Advisory Committee Inclusive Education constituted by the Centre for Disabilities Studies and Action at Tata Institute of Mumbai. She has worked in the sphere of Education, Creative Arts, special needs education, communicative English, Street theatre, women’s education, Peace Studies, and Curriculum Development for over four decades. She has held several posts in India and abroad, at both the school and university levels. She is a recipient of the prestigious National Teachers Award from the President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on teacher’s day and the Endeavour Award, from the Australian government.
