Sophie Benini Pietromarchi is a Franco-Italian artist, author and illustrator of children’s books. She grew up in Paris and obtained a degree in graphic design and a BA and MA degree in literature at the University of Florence with a thesis on Charles Perrault’s Fables. Sophie has conducted workshops at international festivals and in various venues such as schools, public libraries and museums. Some of her work as an illustrator includes collaborations with best-selling authors Azar Nafisi, author of Reading Lolita in Teheran and Frank McCourt. Sophie’s books have been published in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Israel, Switzerland, India and China. In India, the multi-award winning publisher Tara Books has published her works The Book Book and The Colour Book.
