Sheba Karim is a Pakistani-American writer currently based in New Delhi. She holds a MFA in fiction from the Iowa Writers Workshop. Her work has been published in Asia Literary Review,Shenandoah, and the anthology Electric Feather, among others. She will be reading from her young adult novel, Skunk Girl, which has been published in the United States, Italy, Denmark, Sweden and India and is one of the first novels to chronicle the experience of growing up Muslim and South Asian in the United States. She will also read an excerpt from her novel-in-progress,The Serpent Queen, a historical fiction novel chronicling the life of Razia Sultan, India’s first female Muslim ruler.
