A comedy based on an idea by Roland Topor written by Solvene Tiffou and Sarita Vohra .
Basanti, a generous press walli (street ironing lady) lets a poor chai walla (street tea seller) set up house under her table. And yet people get on with their lives as if everything was normal. How can Basanti’s good heart triumph, when indifference and prejudices prevail in our unyielding society? Could wit, singing, dancing and colours be part of the solution?
Stageing, London, is collaborating with Sarita Vohra’s company Living Room Theatre, Delhi, to bring us this English comedy set on the Delhi streets and inspired by Roland Topor’s acclaimed French play“L’hiver sous la table”.
