Bhaichand Patel in conversation with Aruna Vasudev

Thursday, 05 April 2012, 6:30pm

M.L. Bhartia Auditorium, Alliance Française de Delhi

Alliance Française de Delhi and the French Embassy in India are very happy to present this time Mr. Bhaichand Patel who will be in conversation with Ms. Aruna Vasudev for next writers etc, session 13 on April 05 2012.

Bhaichand Patel, editor of Bollywood’s Top Twenty, Superstars of Indian Cinema, saw his first film sitting on his mother’s lap in Fiji Islands and fell in love with Maria Montez and Madhubala before the onslaught of puberty. He has seen films on every continent and sat on a number of juries including the one at the venerable Venice film festival. While he was posted with United Nations, he studied filmmaking at New York University. He writes regularly on cinema and is the author of Happy Hours, The Penguin Book of Cocktails. He has just completed his first novel.

Summarizing Aruna Vasudev is impossible. Many have tried. In the Times of India, journalist Madhu Jain called her the “blue stocking bohemian”. Author Choo Meileen named Aruna Vasudev one of the thirty most prominent women in Asian cinema in her book Asian Women in Film, published in Singapore.

Indisputable are three of Aruna’s most important accomplishments: she was the founder-president of NETPAC (the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema), the founder-editor of the Asian film quarterly Cinemaya, and the founder-director of the Asian cinema festival Cinefan. She’s an author, critic, and programmer.

So don’t miss this unique occasion of discovering these immensely talented and promising authors. Watch out for Writers, etc. for the next month.
